NGC2264 Christmas Tree Nebula Mosaic
NGC 2264, also known as the Christmas Tree Nebula, resides in the constellation Monoceros at a distance approximately 2700 light years away. This photograph also contains other notable Nebulae such as the Cone Nebula, the Christmas Tree Star Cluster, and the Fox Fur Nebula. This is a 2 panel mosaic and also a 6 filter image, RGB Ha OIII SII. The deeper blue in the lower center and scrolling around the left side of the image is from the added OIII, on a traditional RGB image of this object it cannot be seen., however a blue reflection does show up in the lighter blue area of top center in the RGB wavelengths. Some of the different shades in the red are from the SII and Ha as they were both mapped to the red channel. The separate data sets for Red Green Blue Ha OIII SII are shown below.
