Peculiar Galaxy Arp 87

Peculiar Galaxy Arp 87  with Hubble Archive Data

This Image is produced with the HST data from the Hubble Legacy Archives_ Processing by Bill Snyder

This is Arp87, a pair of interacting galaxy’s NGC3808A and NGC3808B  They are about 300 million light years from earth in the constellation Leo. Both galaxy’s are being distorted by their gravitational interaction which is drawing gas, dust and even stars from one to another. Also, many interacting galaxy’s have a very high rate of star formation. This data was taken with Hubble’s Wide Field Planetary 2 detector on Feb.2007, and reprocessed by myself.  There is a nice write up about these galaxy’s here

Thanks for looking
